Under the Health Ministry’s largest cashless health insurance scheme — the Ayushman Bharat Jan ArogyaYojana — approximately 21.9 crore beneficiaries have been verified.
This is less than 50% of the targeted approximately 50 crore beneficiaries under the scheme.
“As of January 4, approximately 4.3 crore hospital admissions, amounting to ₹50,409 crore, have also been authorised under the scheme through a network of over 26,055 hospitals,” the Survey added.
Ayushman Bharat Jan ArogyaYojana
Ayushman Bharat, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017, to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Ayushman Bharat comprises of two components:
1.Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs)
2.Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)
PMJAY, launched on 23rd September 2018, isthe world largest health assurance scheme, aims at providing a health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to poor and vulnerable families.
