  • Under the Health Ministry’s largest cashless health insurance scheme — the Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana — approximately 21.9 crore beneficiaries have been verified.
  • This is less than 50% of the targeted approximately 50 crore beneficiaries under the scheme.
  • “As of January 4, approximately 4.3 crore hospital admissions, amounting to ₹50,409 crore, have also been authorised under the scheme through a network of over 26,055 hospitals,” the Survey added.
  • Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana

  • Ayushman Bharat, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017, to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
  • Ayushman Bharat comprises of two components:
  • 1.Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs)

    2.Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)

  • PMJAY, launched on 23rd September 2018, is the world largest health assurance scheme, aims at providing a health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to poor and vulnerable families.
